Most moisturizers ask you to trust thirty ingredients you can't pronounce. We'd rather earn your trust five times, in plain English. Below is every single thing inside Hallow Tallow — no abbreviations, no "fragrance" catch-alls, no fine print.

Ingredient 01 — The Foundation
Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished Beef Tallow
- What it is
- Tallow is beef fat, rendered slowly and carefully until it's clean, smooth, and nearly odorless. People have moisturized with it for generations — long before the word "moisturizer" existed. Its fatty acid profile is remarkably close to the oils your own skin produces, which is why skin takes to it so readily.

- Because skin recognizes it. Where conventional lotion delivers a splash of water that soon evaporates, tallow delivers concentrated, lasting moisture that supports your skin barrier. And because rendering matters: rushed, bulk-rendered tallow is what gives the category its "beefy smell" reputation. Ours is rendered low and slow, which is why this jar smells like nothing at all.

- Honey is a natural humectant — it draws moisture toward the skin and holds it there, beautifully complementing tallow's rich, protective moisture. Manuka is the rarest and most celebrated honey we could put in the jar, and no major tallow brand leads with it. It's one of the most expensive ingredients we could have chosen — and we chose it anyway. We think your skin can tell.

Ingredient 03 — The Gentle Classic
Calendula Extract
- What it is
- An extract of the calendula flower — the golden marigold that's brightened cottage gardens for centuries. It's one of the oldest botanicals in skincare, passed down through generations of gentle skincare tradition for one reason: it is famously gentle.
- Why we chose it
- When we built a formula for skin that reacts to everything, we wanted the botanical with the longest track record of being kind to delicate skin. Calendula has been the choice for sensitive skin since long before laboratories got involved. It helps calm the look of redness and soothes skin that's had enough.

Jojoba Oil
- What it is
- Pressed from the seeds of the jojoba shrub, a hardy desert plant. Technically it isn't an oil at all — it's a liquid wax ester, and it's the closest thing in the plant world to your skin's own natural sebum.

- Jojoba is what helps a rich tallow formula stay light. It absorbs quickly, balances rather than smothers, and is part of why Hallow Tallow whips up airy and sinks in fast instead of sitting on your skin like a waxy balm.

Ingredient 05 — The Finishing Touch
Cold-Pressed Organic Olive Oil
- What it is
- Olive oil made the unhurried way — cold-pressed, so the fruit is never heated and its natural antioxidants, including vitamin E, stay intact. The same standard you'd want in your kitchen, in your skincare.
- Why we chose it
- Olive oil has softened skin around the Mediterranean for thousands of years. It rounds out the formula with antioxidant-rich conditioning and a supple, comfortable finish. It's also the one ingredient in our jar that carries the organic name — and we'll only ever use that word where it's true.

The No List
What's not in the jar matters as much as what is. Here's every "no" — and the honest reason behind each one.
- No preservatives: Preservatives exist to keep water-based formulas from spoiling. There's no water in this jar, so there's nothing to preserve — we simply make small batches, fresh.
- No parabens: A family of synthetic preservatives many of our customers go out of their way to avoid. A waterless formula never needed them in the first place.
- No synthetic fragrance: Unscented means unscented — nothing added to perfume it, nothing added to mask it. (The Unscented formula contains no essential oils either, which is exactly why so many people with sensitive skin choose it.)
- No fillers: Every ingredient in this jar earns its place by doing a job on your skin. Nothing is in there to bulk up the label or pad out the weight.
- No GMOs: None of our five ingredients is genetically modified.
- No dyes: The soft cream color is simply whipped tallow and honey. It can vary slightly from batch to batch — that's what undyed looks like.
- No water: Water is the first ingredient in most lotions — often 60 to 80 percent of the bottle. We'd rather fill the jar with moisturizer.
A note on "seed oils," since this category loves the phrase: jojoba is pressed from a seed, so we won't claim "no seed oils" — that wouldn't be honest. What you won't find here are industrial seed oils. Jojoba is a botanical liquid wax we chose on purpose, because it behaves like your skin's own oils.
